'Memento Mori wine is named for a life-embracing philosophy born of a deep appreciation for the ties that bind. Each of its' three founders Adriel Lares, Adam Craun and Hayes Drumwright have triumphed over adversity and learned to value not only life but the passion and hard work that drives it, making them uniquely qualified to launch an uncompromising brand.'

Memento Mori is a boutique winery that specializes in Cabernet Sauvignon from some of the most internationally acclaimed vineyard sites in Napa Valley. The winery was founded in 2010 by three childhood friends, Hayes Drumwright, Adriel Lares and Adam Craun, who have together overcome serious health scares, family tragedy and times of trial, inspiring them to start their label Memento Mori – a shared mantra which they interpret as “Remember to Live” – an ethos that is palpable in every bottle.
Memento Mori sources grapes from iconic vineyards such as Beckstoffer Dr Crane, Beckstoffer Las Piedras, Vine Hill Ranch, Weitz Vineyard, and Oakville Ranch vineyards. Superstar 100-point winemaker Sam Kaplan translates each vineyard site into balanced, terroir-driven wines that tell the story of Napa Valley, culminating in Memento Mori’s flagship Napa Valley Cabernet blend.

The founders, along with Sam, chose to make the blend Memento Mori’s flagship wine because they simply liked it best – the Memento Mori ethos allows them to make decisions based on their “remember to live” mantra.
In the words of founder Hayes Drumwright, “If a doctor in a single sentence can take away everything for you, then there is no reason to hold off on experiencing the best things in life.” In other words, life is too short to not make the best wine possible simply because it bucks tradition or capitalizes less visibly on expensive vineyard sources. As an artistic or symbolic reminder of the inevitability of death, Memento Mori is an ethos that’s not only authentic to the unique story of its founders, but also rings true to consumers who may not be aware of its genesis. The name is so much more memorable than just a single personality and gives palpable significance to what’s in the bottle. Memento Mori wines are available via allocation twice yearly.
“Courageous tears embrace an unknown life, reflection whispers a foretold farewell, between these thoughts, I remember to live”
