Anseillan Chateau Lafite Rothschild Pauillac 2018

91 points | Jeff Leve (The Wine Cellar Insider)

“This is a semi-new wine from Lafite Rothschild… The wine emanates from a specific parcel in the Lafite vineyard, making it its own, unique wine. With little effort, you find flowers, herbs, tobacco leaf, and spicy currants. This is a mini, mini version of Lafite Rothschild, so you get a nice, true Pauillac character and the best part is, the wine sells for a song. Plus, you can enjoy this with pleasure on release.”

Drinkable from 2023 to 2035.

James Suckling

“Fresh and bright with dried flowers, such as lavender and violets, with some black berries and currants. Medium body, fine tannins, with a nice and lightly bitter lemon and cedar aftertaste. Why wait? New third wine from Lafite from a special parcel just east of the chateau. Very drinkable.”

90 points | Jeb Dunnuck

“Coming from a cooler terroir east of Château Lafite, the 2018 Château Lafite Anseillan… has a ruby/purple hue as well as a solid bouquet of red and black cherries, currants, spicy oak, and tobacco. Medium-bodied, supple, and elegant on the palate, it has plenty of Pauillac character, outstanding balance, and is perfect for drinking any time over the coming 10-12 years or more. It’s impeccably made and already delicious.”

Tasting Notes

Exuberant scents of blackberries, black currants, cherries, and burning embers, layered with subtle toasty oak and floral touches. A medium to full-bodied palate with a fleshy texture, offering a precise core of dark fruit balanced by youthfully chewy, refined tannins.

A lighter and more Merlot-dominant than the classic Lafite Grand Vin, presenting a savory, elegant, and accessible profile.
