Maison Roche de Bellene Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru 2019
93 – 95 points | Wine Advocate
“The 2019 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru is destined to be much less controversial than its 2018 predecessor, as Bouchard was able to determine the date of harvest this year. Wafting from the glass with notes of cherries, woodsmoke, dried flowers, licorice and loamy soil, it’s full-bodied, bright and tightly wound, with real concentration and a long, precise finish.” (William Kelley tasted Jan 2021)

“The 2019 Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze Grand Cru comes from the same source of purchased fruit as the Chapelle-Chambertin. This was slightly reduced on the nose but there appears to be very fine intensity. The palate is medium-bodied with silky-smooth tannins, and a little saline in the mouth, leading into a harmonious finish. I would just like to see more structure and maybe more Pinoté post-racking. “(Neal Martin tasted Dec 2020)

“An airy and markedly spicy nose of red cherry, dark raspberry, oak and softly earthy aromas is slightly fresher. The rich and relatively full-bodied flavors possess focused power and a subtle minerality that adds a sense of lift to the mildly warm, firm and sneaky lingering finale.” (tasted April 2021)
