Bruno Giacosa
One of Piemont's Greatest
Bruno Giacosa, a master of traditional Piedmontese winemaking, built a legacy that inspires wine lovers worldwide. Based in Neive, within Italy’s Langhe region, his estate produces wines that showcase Nebbiolo’s potential and Piedmont’s unique terroir.
In 1945, at just 16 years old, Bruno began working full-time in his family’s cellar. Instead of studying oenology, he immersed himself in the traditional knowledge and techniques handed down through generations. His approach was deliberate, focused, and marked by a perfectionist’s attention to detail. Known for his exacting standards and modest demeanor, he allowed his wines to speak for themselves.
In 1960, Bruno Giacosa took charge of his family’s winemaking tradition and began sourcing grapes from trusted growers. He meticulously selected fruit from Barolo
and Barbaresco’s finest vineyards, earning the title “The Maestro of Nebbiolo.” In 1982, he acquired his own vineyards, including the iconic Falletto in Serralunga d’Alba. This move allowed him to oversee every aspect of production under his label, Azienda Agricola Falletto di Bruno Giacosa.
Elegance, purity and complexity
Bruno Giacosa’s wines consistently earned top accolades from critics and publications like Wine Spectator and Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate. His Barbaresco Santo Stefano 1964 helped establish Piedmont as a world-class wine region. In 2007, his Barolo Le Rocche del Falletto Riserva received a perfect 100-point score, cementing his legendary status.
Giacosa’s portfolio features wines that focus on authenticity and balance. His Barolo and Barbaresco, made from Nebbiolo, reveal floral aromatics, firm tannins,
and exceptional aging potential. He produces Red Label Riserva wines only in outstanding vintages, showcasing Nebbiolo at its finest. Additionally, his estate crafts wines from Dolcetto, Barbera, and Arneis. Bruno Giacosa revived Arneis, creating elegant white wines that enhance his offerings.
Following Bruno Giacosa’s passing in 2018, his daughter Bruna Giacosa continues the family’s winemaking tradition. She preserves their dedication to traditional
methods and outstanding quality. Every bottle reflects their respect for the land and commitment to excellence.
Bruno Giacosa wines, whether young or aged, offer more than exceptional flavour. They embody meticulous craftsmanship and the enduring heritage of Piedmontese winemaking.
