A Unique Napa Terroir
The Ulysses Vineyard, once part of the Charles Hopper Ranch, lies on the Oakville bench. This exceptional site extends across an alluvial fan at the foot of the Mayacamas Range. The deep, gravelly clay loam soils are ideal for cultivating Cabernet Sauvignon. Since acquiring the property, Christian Moueix and his team have restored the vineyard, exploring the soil’s nuances and microclimate.

Ulysses is the result of Christian Moueix’s ongoing quest to express the exceptional qualities of this Napa Valley site. Son of famed Bordeaux wine merchant Jean-Pierre Moueix, Chritian is recognized as one of the industry’s great visionaries. His journey began in Bordeaux, where he introduced revolutionary vineyard practices.Â
With over 45 years of experience, Moueix’s pursuit of perfection and reverence for stewardship is reflected in every bottle of Ulysses. Today, alongside Dominus Estate, Moueix and his son Edouard oversee wines from eight family châteaux in Pomerol and Saint-Émilion.

The grapes from Ulysses are hand-harvested, carefully sorted, and fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve fruit purity.Â
