Our goal is to combine elegance, power, aromatics, texture, finish, and longevity to create beautifully balanced wines that are approachable in their youth, but have enough structure to cellar for long term aging. | Sam Kaplan, Memento Mori Winemaker
The Memento Mori Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 draws its dense purple core from the Beckstoffer Dr. Crane, Beckstoffer Las Piedras, Vine Hill Ranch, Weitz Vineyard, and Oakville Ranch vineyards. It offers layers of ripe blackberries, crushed boysenberries, black plums, spiced mocha, and hints of cassis. Notes of black tea, wet stone, cigar box, and Indian spices evolve in the glass. Wild blackberries, blueberries, and black raspberries create a nuanced mid-palate. Plush, fine-grained tannins glide smoothly on the palate. Aged for 22 months in 100% new French oak, this wine showcases the grace and beauty of the 2018 vintage. It offers immediate enjoyment and long-term aging potential.
