Dom Perignon Champagne
The Pinnacle of Luxury
A paragon of sophistication and success, Dom Pérignon is the ultimate symbol of luxury and refinement in the world of champagne. Named after the 17th-century Benedictine monk Dom Pierre Pérignon this prestigious brand is synonymous with elegance, heritage, and exceptional craftsmanship. Produced by Moët & Chandon in Épernay, France, Dom Pérignon stands as one of the most coveted vintage champagnes, gracing celebrations, exclusive events, and the tables of discerning connoisseurs worldwide.
Dom Pierre Pérignon
Dom Pierre Pérignon, born in 1640 near the Champagne region, entered the Benedictine Order at just 19 years old. By the age of 28, he became the cellar master at the Abbey of Hautvillers, a position he held until his passing in 1715.
During his tenure, he oversaw the abbey’s vineyards and winemaking, crafting wines that served both sacred purposes for religious ceremonies and as a vital source of income for the abbey’s upkeep.
The Trailblazer
Where Pérignon truly shone was in the realm of blending, an innovation that elevated him above his contemporaries. He shunned the conventional practice of relying on the grapes at hand, choosing instead to assess the quality of the fruit through blind tastings. He was dedicated to sourcing the highest fruit quality and was the first to different varieties from different crus.
He was also a trailblazer in immediate and gentle pressing of red grapes to secure white juice for assemblage. Slow pressing is now a cornerstone of today’s champagne production.
For centuries, regional vintners leveraged the prestige of Dom Pérignon’s name to market their Champagnes. However, in the 1920s, Moët & Chandon officially dedicated their prestige cuvée to his legacy, cementing his status as a pioneering figure in winemaking and elevating his name to global renown.
Vintage Only
Dom Pérignon’s creative vision is driven by a relentless pursuit of harmony as
a source of profound emotion. Every act of creation comes with its challenges, and for Dom Pérignon, the defining constraint is its unwavering dedication to producing only vintage champagne. This commitment ensures that each bottle reflects the unique character of a single year’s harvest, regardless of the difficulties faced. In some years, this principle leads to the bold decision not to declare a vintage at all, underscoring the brand’s devotion to excellence and authenticity.
