Domaine Méo-Camuzet
A Rich Legacy Rooted in Burgundy's History
Domaine Méo-Camuzet sits in Vosne-Romanée, in the Côte de Nuits region of Burgundy. For over four centuries, the Méo family has actively grown vines and produced wine. They originated from Selongey, a village north of the Côte d’Or in Burgundy.
Etienne Camuzet, the estate’s founder, was an early 20th-century politician based in Paris. He offered parts of his estate to various sharecroppers for cultivation. In 1989, Jean-Nicolas Méo took control of the estate and identified a challenge. Extensive sharecropping left only a small portion of vines directly under the estate’s management.
Jean-Nicolas implemented a long-term plan to recover these plots from the sharecroppers. His goal was to grow fruit on the estate and bottle wines under the
Méo-Camuzet label. Today, Méo-Camuzet spans 14 hectares of vines, cultivated following organic farming principles, though without formal certification.
Crafting Excellence: Grands Crus, Premier Crus, and Beyond
Domaine Méo-Camuzet produces six exceptional grands crus, including Richebourg, Clos de Vougeot, and Échezeaux. The lineup also features Corton Clos Rognet, Corton Les Perrières, and Corton La Vigne au Saint. Alongside these, the estate offers ten premier crus from Vosne-Romanée, Nuits-St-Georges, Chambolle-Musigny, and Fixin. Their portfolio also includes several village wines, one Bourgogne Rouge, and three whites.
Jean-Nicolas Méo focuses on achieving balance and purity in every bottle. His wines, delicate and refined, deliver extraordinary intensity and concentration. Even in their youth, these wines demonstrate the complexity needed for extended cellar aging. These rare achievements embody the dream of every Burgundy wine lover.
