The 2018 vintage was shaped by an ideal, generous and remarkably easy-going climate. Constant sunshine defined the year, while summer temperatures surpassed the records set in 2003. These conditions produced exceptional grape quality across both key varieties. Harvest began early, on 17 August, making this only the fifth August harvest in the Maison’s history. From every perspective, 2018 stands out as a vintage of abundance, maturity and new possibilities.
Dom Pérignon Vintage 2018 is radiant and glowing. It opens with a rare apricot signature, followed by orchard fruit and tropical notes of yellow kiwi and mango. Hints of ivy and balsamic nuance add further complexity. The palate is broad and dense, with an unctuous, savoury texture and lively tension. Bitters and sweetness interact beautifully, bringing energy and balance to the wine.
The blend comprises 54% Chardonnay and 46% Pinot Noir. In 2018, both varieties reached record ripeness under ideal climatic conditions. As in 2017, the Maison pushed Chardonnay maturity further while showing restraint with Pinot Noir to preserve balance. The result is radiant, ample and precise, with Dom Pérignon’s signature tension expressed through a richer, deeper style.
